Aqeel Mission Statement
Aqeel Medical develops software for brain-based and other wearable consumer devices that extends and enhances the use of these devices for the purposes of improving mental states and traits and allied behavioral markers of the device wearer.
The device domain includes, inter alia, consumer-based EEG devices such as the Muse, and MindWave, and consumer-based devices that register heart rate and other biomarkers such as the Apple Watch and the Fitbit.
Improvement targets include, inter alia, degree of relaxation, degree of positive thinking, depth of the meditative state, as well as direct behaviors such as mental and/or physical performance.
Unlike most software in these domains, in all cases we take a closed-loop, dynamic approach to altering brain states. That is,
Aqeel software works by monitoring the current state,
altering a user-based task or user-provided auditory and/or visual input on the basis of this state,
and iterating through this process a number of times to provide continuous improvement.
This type of optimization is critical in enhancing human emotions and performance, especially considering that the brain's response to a given input will
be highly dependent on the user in question, and in addtion may change over time within that person.
Our first products, RADIANT Mind and RADIANT Sound fall squarely within this methodology. RADIANT Mind
adjusts the three components of the breath cycle (inhale, hold, and exhale) in order to enhance meditative practice, in order to increase positive outlook, and under the right circumstances,
to draw the mind away from quotidian cares and towards the primal pulse that drives all thought.
RADIANT Sound does the same thing, but instead by providing a sequence of musical clips to guide the mind into these states.
Taken together, these apps mark a turning point in the mental wellness field, from a one-size-fits-all, fixed approach, to one that finely calibrates its guidance based on real time, dynamic brain states.
